If you use the Windows application, you can highlight the items you want to delete and click "Delete" button (marked as a Trashcan) on the toolbar.
If you use the Web-based interface, you can click the checkbox on the left side of each item, then click "X" button on the left bottom side of the page.

I had the problem where deleting the items did not work. Closing and reopening didn't work.
I right clicked on the item and it deleted. The trashcan icon worked from then on.
